Software – very good
Americas Cardroom is currently using the updated Winning Poker Network software which has a completely different style to the old poker tables. I really like the look and feel of the poker lobby which loads without any problems. There is no 3D option and the poker tables have a very old-school appeal which i do not think detracts from the room in any way. In fact, i believe this will add to the appeal of playing the room as it gives quite a personalized experience. This does not mean that the tables lack functionability; indeed they boast useful tools such as resizable tables, fold/show functionality, straddle tables, cascading multi-tabling in a stable setting which shouldn’t work your computer too hard.

There is a log of all betting actions, that shows who bets and calls and how much. There is also a player notes function. David Sklansky and Mason Malmuth were consulted for the original Yatahay Poker Network software (at true Poker) to develop an anti-collusion system, which automatically flaggs suspicious activity and is then reviewed by the security team. Since then, the network has been rebranded to the Winning Poker Network.

Playability – very good
Very easy to understand and use at the table with buttons and actions clearly marked. The old-school style gives you an immediate sense of familiarity and there’s a very nice use of player time-bar and decision-bar colours to keep your eyes interested. The lobby is nicely designed and very easy to work around although i’m not so keen on a new lobby opening in a separate window when changing from cash tables to tournaments, but that’s just a small issue. Overall, i like the current design.

Traffic – good
A little slow generally but slowly gathering momentum as one of the few networks still allowing US players, expect traffic to increase steadily. It’s usually not a problem to find a game at most limits during peak hours and the tournament structures are increasing.

Support – very good
Americas Cardroom are one of the oldest brand names in online poker and pride themselves on their customer service. 24 hour live chat is available or you can always e-mail or telephone direct. Most of the major deposit and withdrawal methods are available and cash out speeds are good.

Summary – very good
Americas Cardroom aquired the Doyles Room player base and software on Oct 13th, 2011. All players with Doyles accounts were automatically transferred to to he new name along with their account balance. The software remains the same, simply with new branding and tweeks to the appearence. The name Americas Cardroom is not new in online poker and certainly, their moniker is a real statement of intent in these troubled times for poker in the US. They promise many more new guaranteed tournaments and promotions in the future and it’s good to see that they are offering a wide range of support features, especially (most players favourite) 24 hour live chat.

I like the software and the network. If they can keep improving on site traffic then we may have a real winner!

Extra Information : Frequent Player Points (FPP)
Every time you play in a raked hand or enter a tournament that has a fee, you will earn FPP’s.

In Ring Games FPP is earned based on the amount of rake contributed to the pot. For every dollar in rake you will earn 1 FPP. Example: If $1.50 is contributed in rake, you will earn 1.5 FPP.

In Tournaments FPP is earned based on the Tournament Fee. For every $1 in Tournament Fee you will earn 7 FPP. Example: If you enter into a $20+$2 tournament, you will earn 14 FPP.

In the Americas Cardroom software, if you click on the Rewards tab found near the top of the poker lobby (see screenshot below), you can see your current FPP’s for each month.

Special Promotions : $65K Points Race
As you play, you’ll collect points toward the leader board. The more points you collect, the higher you’ll climb. At the end of the month, the leaderboard will be frozen and players awarded with cash based on their rank. First place gets $10k.

Special Promotions : $1,500 Guaranteed Deepstack
The $1,500 Guaranteed Deepstack runs every Saturday and Sunday at 3pm and 6pm ET. $50 + 5 buys you a hefty 5,000 in chips for use in this freezeout tourney.
