On Wednesday, the Washington DC Finance and Revenue Committee voted to advance a bill calling for the repeal of the country’s first Internet Gaming Law. The 3-2 vote will send the bill before the full council with the first of two votes scheduled for next week.
PokerStars restarted their poker room server this morning, putting into effect the new rake structure changes that PokerStars claim will reduce total rake by almost 3%.
Law and Regulation: Order and Progress: Brazilian Ministry of Sport officially recognizes poker “as a fun game that requires concentration, training and study.”
This week, the Brazilian Ministry of Sport officially endorsed poker as a game of skill. Although not yet officially announced, it is understood that an agreement was made in private meetings with the poker advocacy group the Brazilian Conferederação Texas Hold’em (CBTH).
Poker is now listed on the Ministry website as a sport, noting that it requires a player to develop a broad mix of skills to succeed. The CBTH has been officially appointed as the governing body of poker in Brazil.
Caesars Interactive Entertainment has entered into a “long term strategic partnership” with French online poker operator LB Poker, it was announced Monday.
